Greg McLaren
8.30pm, Thursday 12th and Friday 13th May 2011 @ The Brewery
Greg McLaren wanted to do a one-man opera, and he wanted to set himself a challenge. So he thought that he would sing his way through a week, replacing all speech with song, on the street, in meetings, on the phone, up a tree, etc. But actually it went on for a lot longer than that.
The result is a strangely moving journey, constantly evolving, slipping from one reality to another. There is music that seems to seep out from language, humour of course, loud bits, quiet bits, and the thrill of an attempt.
Festival-goers last year will remember Greg from his mind-bending caravan game-show Famous Last Words and his part in Stoke Newington International Airport's Live Art Speed Dating as part of the Forest Fringe Weekend. We welcome him back to Mayfest with possibly the year’s best-titled show.
